Construction workforce inside a data centre build, with cable trays and containment being installed
← Poachd
Data centre construction is the build side of critical digital infrastructure

The construction trades that build data centres.

Data centres, HV yards, BESS sites and mission-critical fitouts need more than electricians. They need plumbers, mechanical fitters, HVAC and refrigeration techs, riggers, crane crew, comms cablers, fire systems techs, carpenters and supervisors. Build a free private profile for data centre construction work, watch what is staffing soon, and open the door only when the job is worth it.

Free for tradespeople. Contractors pay only on a confirmed placement.

Two minutes to an opportunity profile

Step 1

Scan your licence or trade ticket

Photograph your electrical, plumbing, mechanical, refrigeration, crane, rigging or general construction licence. The profile builder reads the class, number and expiry. No CV formatting.

Step 2

Index the capability that builds data centres

Cable containment, busway, power distribution, HVAC, liquid cooling, fire systems, fitout, testing and commissioning. The graph maps what you can do against the work that gates energisation.

Step 3

Set where you work and what would move you

Travel radius, FIFO, roster, relocation premium and rate. Choose your interest level, from not looking but open to the right opportunity through to just curious.

Step 4

Get approached for the right build

Project Radar shows the categories and locations staffing soon. Contractors send a poach request with rate, roster, duration and site, and nothing moves until you open the door.

Free for tradespeople, always

Contractors pay on a confirmed placement. You never pay to be seen, approached or hired.

Private profile by default

Your name and contact details stay hidden until you open the door. Contractors browse capability first.

Verified once, reused everywhere

Licences and tickets are verified once and reused on every approach, including subcontract packages.

The capability that gets you poached

Scarcity, not seniority, drives the premium. These are the electrical and mechanical capabilities that gate energisation on data centre sites. If you hold any of them - or work alongside them - your construction background is already a feeder into the moat.

Modelled capability mix across the data-centre-relevant electrical workforce, derived from published vendor certification volumes and project workforce plans. Anonymised and indicative - no individual is identifiable.

Where the construction work is

Modelled from ABS/BLS and equivalent national electrician employment counts, published data centre construction pipelines and the 3–4 approaches per worker per year observed in the sector. Rate bands are base hourly pay in local currency for a data-centre-grade electrician, benchmarked August 2026 against enterprise agreement and collective-agreement scales (ETU/NECA in AU, CIF-Connect SEO in IE, JIB in UK), IBEW local scale and Davis-Bacon determinations in the US, and published public-works labour unit prices in JP/KR. They exclude on-costs, allowances, per diem and union fringe packages, which can add 25–60% to the total cost of an hour. Estimates, not platform counts.

Questions construction trades ask

Is this only for electricians?
No. Data centre builds need electricians, plumbers, mechanical fitters, HVAC and refrigeration techs, riggers, crane crew, comms and data cablers, fire techs, carpenters and supervisors. If your trade touches the build, it belongs on the graph.
Do I have to be looking for work?
No. Most people on Poachd are not looking. You can sit on the network quietly and only hear about work that clears the terms you set.
What kind of construction work is on Poachd?
The core is data centre construction: MEP fitout, white space, energisation, HV, BESS, liquid cooling and mission-critical facilities. The same graph feeds mining, utilities, renewables, advanced manufacturing and defence work that uses overlapping trades.
Will my current boss or site see my profile?
No. Profiles are private by default. Contractors see capability, region and availability, never names or contact details, until you open the door on an approach.
Can I take on subcontract work?
Yes. When you sign up you can flag that you work under your own ABN or business and are open to subcontract packages, and contractors looking for team-of-one or small workforce packages can approach you.
