Tell the search what the work needs

The more precisely you describe the capability, the more useful the result. These are the dimensions that change the answer.
  • Licence class and jurisdiction - an electrical licence is state-based, and a capable person may not be licensed where your work is.
  • Switching authority and the network it was issued against, if the work touches HV.
  • Cable jointing, termination and testing tickets, with the voltage class.
  • The systems the work actually involves: switchboards and busway, UPS and static switches, generator paralleling, protection and controls, BMS or PLC.
  • Whether you need someone to do the work, run the crew, or write and witness the test script.
  • Region, travel tolerance and the window you need them in.

Why experienced electricians are so hard to find

  • Licensed electrical capability is the single most contested resource in Australian infrastructure right now - data centres, grid renewal, storage, rail and resources are all bidding for the same people.
  • The scarcest capability sits with people who are currently employed and not looking. Advertising does not reach them.
  • Job titles hide the difference that matters: two A-grade electricians can have completely non-overlapping systems experience.
  • Much of the best critical-power capability was built in utilities, mining, rail or fabs, so screening for data centre experience filters out the people most able to do the work.
